The week everyone cancelled on me
I use deodorant - honest!
Monday - I don't makes plans on Monday nights because I have a meeting after school that often runs late and I can never be certain of a finish time. Sometimes the meeting finished at 5:30 like last week, sometimes it doesn't finish until 8:30 like the week before last. This week it was cancelled. Brilliant. But not so brilliant because I've a night with nothing to do. I did actually ended up going out for a couple hours in the rain and helping Clare move flat. So it worked out good that I was free to help.
Tuesday - I was meant to go out with Clare & Cate, we'd been trying for 3 weeks to find a date that we were all free and this was the day. We were going to do it - have fun, catch up, have a girly night. But Cate had a bad day, and had a headache, and a lot of work to do and she cancelled. And then Clare decided she'd cancel to as she'd just moved and needed to sort her room out. So they both cancelled. Sad.
Wednesday - (Ok, so I probably shouldn't admit this on my blog as I've never really talked about "boys" on here - but here goes....) I had a date on Wednesday, never met him before, but we were set up and due to meet on Wednesday. But he got in touch Wednesday afternoon having to cancel. No love loss, but another day of cancelled plans.
Thursday - Another night I didn't plan anything because of a meeting after school ... that ended up getting cancelled. So I went grocery shopping.
Friday - The school organised a "pub quiz" after school in the staff room and invited everyone along to unwind and have a drink, that I was particularly looking forward to as I'd had so many cancelled plans. I needed a pick me up, or at least reassurance that I didn't smell bad and that's why everyone was cancelling on me. But (yes, there's a but) and unexpected visitor came to the school and didn't leave till after the pub quiz was over. Sadness. But that's okay I tell myself, everyone's going to the pub after for a drink. Nope. Everyone's not going to the pub after. But there were a small handful that went to the pub and I did actually have a good night out. I also met a highly gorgeous South African guy. Shame he had a girlfriend and was in love. But he was still lovely and I enjoyed chatting with him for some of the evening.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!
... and we played in the snow for a while
of course I tried to catch snow on my tongue!
Then we went to bed. And it continued to snow. A lot more!!! This morning I had a really important deadline (hence all the long hours I've been doing lately) so I went out to my car to face the treacherous conditions and get to work.
There were some nervous moments on the drive into work, but I made it. School was closed (obviously) so I helped out answering phones and letting the world know we were closed.
Table for 1 anyone? (Our back garden again)
When I got home I found Meghan outside building snowman number 2. More snow means bigger snowman
Ok, so this is beyond gross, but definitely note worthy. See those pink slippers ion the snowman in the above picture? These are Meghan's slippers and they've been outside for a while. When she moved them to use them for snowman feet, she was greeted with this sight. (We are guessing that it went under there to get some relief from the snow?) (It's a dead rat if you can't tell. Frozen stiff. ew!!!)
Headed back from shopping (snow still falling)
Meghan (in red) throwing up a snowball and catching it
Home from shopping.
As I type this, the snow is still falling. School is cancelled again tomorrow and there's a good 8 inches of snow on the ground. It's SO incredibly beautiful. I've never seen a sight like this (that I can remember anyway - I did live in Colorado Springs (in the Rocky Mountains) for a year, and I'm sure it snowed this much there, but I was too young to remember). I'm loving this white beauty!!!
Busy busy busy
Look at this veg - picture perfect, literally :-)
We were both surprised to see this egg display - who knew you could buy single eggs? I've only ever seen them sold by the 1/2 dozen & dozen
After the grocery store Matt & I went to a Mediterranean restaurant - a first for me. I was pleasantly surprised at the cuisine. I shouldn't be surprised to be fair - Matt's got superb taste, I'm never disappointed when he picks a place!
Christmas decorations still haunting my flat
Yes, that's right - I still have Christmas decoration in my lounge waiting to be sorted out and put away! Well I did have ... until a week ago. To defend myself a little bit, I did take the decorations down - they were just in a big pile on my dining room table (and the boxes for the decorations filled 1/2 the lounge). Last Saturday (as in a week and 2 days ago) I sorted all my Christmas decorations out and boxed them back up. I managed to box all the decorations up on Saturday but they didn't make it down to the shed until Monday night.
Flatmate Fun
Only Meghan's second time using chopsticks - she did really good!
Saturday Meghan & I went to Wimbledon to meet up with a friend of hers, Kirsty, and see movie number 3 of the week, Seven Pounds. Meghan & Kirsty really liked the movie & they both cried (wimps!), but I spent most of the movie confused. It was an okay movie. It certainly wasn't one with a predictable plot.
The night Becky came over!
Becky came over Tuesday night after work for some girlie fun, as is our specialty at "Karen & Meg's flat o fun"! We laughed, shared stories, played Sorry (a board game which Becky & Meghan couldn't quite grasp the rules of - oh dear what fun and frustration that brought to the night) and ate. It was a great evening!
Becky showed off her ballet skills (unfortunately my camera didn't pick up the action shot to well)
Becky had a braclet I wanted to try on. It didn't want to go on.
I kept at it until I was triumphent (no matter how much pain it caused!) Now trying to get it off was a bit more tricky. There was talk of cutting it off. But I managed it in the end. Braclett (& wrist) in tact.
